Large Family Garden with Outdoor Rooms - Canterbury, Kent
Project overview
A young family with children asked us to transform their large Kent garden into a space that would work for everyone. They wanted somewhere safe and fun for the kids, comfortable areas for adults to relax and entertain, and planting that would support wildlife and look good year-round.
We designed a family garden that balances all of these needs. The layout creates distinct zones that flow naturally, so the children have their own space while the adults can enjoy the garden without constantly supervising.
Design process and result
The children's area is properly whimsical: a playhouse, a potion pot for imaginative play, and climbing logs for active outdoor time. It's designed to encourage nature play rather than just providing plastic equipment.
For the adults, we created beautiful patio areas with comfortable seating that's perfect for family gatherings and outdoor dining. There's also a dedicated growing zone with flowers, vegetables, and herbs, so the whole family can get involved with growing things.
